MHDT Laboratory Pagoda balanced
MHDT Lab's Pagoda Balanced use 4 x Burr Brown PCM-1704U chip and 2 x GE5670 tubes as a output buffer. The B&B PCM1704U is in short demand. Like the other chips they are out of production but MHDT still got them while other manufactures had to find/develop/triggle down a replacement or go for a OEM (Other Electronic Manufacturer). The recipe is the same as the other 6 models. No oversampling and no filter. The components is of high quality. Because of their sound they are selected to be used in their specific position. Build quality is among the best. Again like all the other models this unit provide 4 digital inputs - BNC, RCA, Toslink and USB. Output is RCA. Check the web for the many fine reviews on this analog and organic sounding R2R dac. The PCM 1704 is last commercial available R2R integrated circuit. Check the reviews.
The digital signal accepted is based on the capability of CS8416 digital receiver, which means the max: 192KHz 24bits input Spdif format.
USB input: Up to 96kHz/ 192KHz (*) 24bits then convert to spdif then to CS8416
no over-sampling, no digital filter
Utilize legendary R-2R multi-bits Burr Brown PCM1704 - J grade (24 bits) DAC chip.
No differential phase shift in both channels.
More detailed yet natural and musical sounding.
